some of you are coming to see Linn gear as well. What is a boy to do , to much stuff , not
enough time.
I am truly looking forward to their new speaker that will range in price at apprx between
6-7 k. I expect these soon enough, Santos rosewood I think. If they are anything like
what these guys do and have done with the 2300A amp, well, Luc contain yourself for
Christ's sake ...
As a footnote , got a lot of you guys thinking as the hits on Operetta gear went up 8 fold
from the beginning of our show on the first of November ! What a go Luc, pat yourself on
the back....hear that sound. The pleasure was ours
Cheers to all !!!

Several things happened between these 2 events, amongst them, Indian summer, and a
once a year event in town, but still some of you decided to show up and listen to what
Jason had to offer. Pictures will follow, but for one thing, the folks admired the 3
changes that took place during these shows, demonstrating that Jatons' really does build
really great stuff. The 300 watt wonder easily impressed folks will its massive
presentation of dynamics and its benchmark clarity. Aided by the Melins VSM's, the
music could not hide anywhere, especially with our Linn Ds systems, the sounds was
truly remarkable.

But this being said, and with the ultimate sounds
imminating from the main setup ( this came at a
price , over 50,000 dollars of a set up), what folks
clearly took a shine to was the world class beater
and a sweet honey of an amplifier, our 2140A
amplifier. Several were on hand with different
finishes ( see pics soon, and yes all belong to SP ),
but folks were astounded with the sound
emanating from the Lyras. This set up went
through 1 transformation as well. The reactions
went from sheer disbelief about how an affordable set up could sound so good ,to " I do
not know what to make of this ....." all of this with an amplifier costing now close to $1,
300.00 ( increase in price due to currency woes ), and a pair of Lyras, that I must myself
admit were remarkable , good go Luc, pat yourself on the back boy ( hear that sound
guys!!!! ). Using the Linn Lp 12 did not hurt much either. Music ranged from recorded
blues on vinyl from Doug McLoed on Audio Quest to Jim Corcorran , a over 30 year old
record , an acoustic masterpiece , to Brandford Marsallis, Trio Jeepy ( eat your heart out
guys ) , to Modern Classical stuff. TOE TAPPING WAS THE ORDER OF THE DAY.

It would be easy for people not to know what the
2300A amp can do for under a cool 6,000.00, if
people knew how 15k amps sounded like ( the
2300 sounded , and I still maintain like a absolute
freaking bargain and a monster ), but few can
discern this ( and that cool and understandable ).
BUT a LOT of people HAVE heard what an appox
1,000.00 amplifier does sound like, and no all were
NOT ready to hear how absolutely amazing this
2140A is.
Stereo Passion is not neutral on this one ( I cannot be ), yes I like to sell, yes I like my
job like no one else can, yes I feel like a he-man when I am proven right all along , and
yes I felt like a guerrilla going on a prowl, but NO, NO, NO I will not lie, this Operetta
2140A amp , not just me , but actual people , with actual lives, actually even freaked out
when they heard . Maybe because , they never heard anything like it for the price . I felt
like cool hand Luke , your reaction to the smaller Jatons set up, was superb , and so were
some of the Jaton guys who had bought the amps and preamps, peacocks they were.

It was all nice to see, audio is not dead guys. Even
Wagner , the formidable beast slayer was at work
here destroying the natural pessimisms that
Ottawa guys are reknowed for ( Psst, I paid Wagy
for his work, dont' call him that, that nick name is
reserved for his buddies only ). I will say it again,
get your 2140A BEFORE George at Jaton comes
back to his senses. I am telling you , those Jaton
guys are silly gooses.
Considering what got in the way of the show due to
weather and a big event in our city, all I am saying
is that the reactions of those 30 some odd people
were not to be easily dismissed. In fact , it actually
made me feel good that I am no longer the only
one who thinks that to hell with reviews, nothing
beats a great demo. Thanks to all, hoping you
enjoyed yourselves. Further demos will be set up in
a near future, and maybe perhaps in the way of our
Turntable seminar this month, no promises, as
